Manufacturer Supply 99% Purity Plant Extract Flavors and Fragrances CAS 90-05-1 2-Methoxyphenol Guaiacol
Guaiacol (or guaiacol, named after the Guaiacol tree native to Latin America) is a natural organic compound with the formula C6H4(OH)(OCH3). This colorless aromatic oil-like compound is the main component of creosote, which can be prepared from guaiacum resin, etc. The common guaiacol takes on a dark color when exposed to air or light. Guaiacol is present in the smoke produced when wood is burned due to the breakdown of lignin. Many foods, such as roasted coffee beans, have a distinctive odor due to the presence of guaiacol. The special flavor of smoked food is mainly due to the effect of guaiacol and syringol.

1.Can be Used for pharmaceuticals, dyes and spices intermediates
2.Mainly used for the preparation of coffee, vanilla, fumigation and tobacco flavor.
3.Can be Used for the synthesis of dyes, also used as analytical reagents
4.In medicine, can be used for the manufacture of calcium guaiacol sulfonate; in the spice industry,
5.Used the manufacture of vanillin and artificial musk.
Guaiacol is widely used in industry. Guaiacol is commonly used to produce flavors such as eugenol, vanillin and artificial musk. Guaiacol also has numerous medical applications. It is used in the synthesis of guaiacol (potassium guaiacol sulfonate), as a local anesthetic or preservative, as an expectorant and in the treatment of indigestion. Because of its reducing properties, it is often used as an antioxidant in small amounts in cosmetics and is often used together with synergists and metal ion chelators. Guaiacol is also used as a dye because it produces a dark color when reacted with oxygen. Guaiacol is also used as a raw material for organic synthesis and a reference material for analysis and determination.
